minute to discuss something that has really raised my hackles as of late......Now this is not so much a rant as it is an observation and advice.

So onto my post everyone needs to understand that I am NOT anti Nudity and in fact NEVER will be anti nudity nor am I prude.To help support this and better help the reader understand just how NON anti nudity I am 3 of my best friends in the world RT friends are active porn stars and have won varied AVN awards over the past few years. I myself have been in an alternative lifestyle for over 10 years and am well known in
those circles as a writer, an erotic photographer and lecturer.You dont get any further from prude then me without crossing into the lines of sexual deviant. LOL LOL But really not the point. The point is I am very open minded and nudity in varied forms does not bother me at all. As long as it is adults I am five by five.

Albeit you can not tell from my profile here. LOL

Anywhoo I am a firm believer that the human body is a piece of art in itself and the ways it can be posed is pronominal.I also believe that Nudes are an intricate part of "ART" itself and the nude genre dates back as one of the earliest art influences.

A huge part of "Art" is having stock or reference material. As of late I have seen some rather disturbing things posted in the resources and stock images on here. This has raised a question to me of is this deviantArt or is this deviantPorn?

Now the ever busy staff on here does works miracles keeping up with everything but there are times that one has to question just WTF were they thinking.

An example of this is last week while perusing the resources gallery I happen to stumble upon a piece that was in my opinion definitely NOT stock! Granted the lighting is amazing and the composition is really good however the subject matter is not stock. I ran it by several others who also were like wtf that is NOT stock.

It was a shot of a gal sprawled on a motorcycle in a girl school skirt legs spread and hands down her panties. I did not click it and go to the gallery itself until I come across another shot of this same gal in a bra with soapy tits. Again this is not stock.

So I go to the gallery and I was unsure whether I was looking at soft core Porn or stock gallery. The whole gallery is filled with like type of shots in varying degrees. I figure okay well ya know different strokes for different folks and contact staff and question whether this particular piece would be better suited in the Photography section under the fetish shots.

I hear back from staff and am told that this is a stock shot. I am thoroughly disgusted and move on.

EDITED IN MARCH 5TH,2009: Here I swore I was not going to do this but you all need to see what it is I am talking about.... Go look at the whole gallery yourselves but here is an example...



Two days later I come on and what do I see 6 more soft core porn pieces from 6 different people. I again just move on and shake my head. I was extremely disgusted though and spoke to several good friends about this and they too agreed with me that this was apprehensive that staff was not taking an active stance in this.

Upon further discussion this with several other stock artists on here (and yes folks stock artists are SOO very much artists too), in private email, on my site, reading the blogs and Terms of use of many stock artists the trolling, propositioning and harassment and nasty comments that have increased over the past month.

This led those of us talking about this to ponder if the recent uploads are a direct cause of the increase. Yes it has always been there and one has to acknowledge that if you post nudes there will be some backlash but when it has raised to the level it is now there is a major issue. If it is not the trolling, propositioning, it is harassment or nasty comments about someones weight or the way they look from those that dont do nudity themselves and/or want to force their beliefs on others. Then there is always my own personal favorites the ones that make requests so they have spank material not so they have stock. GROWL

PEOPLE THIS IS DEVIANTART NOT DEVIANTPORN!!!

Therefor I wanted to post a blog about this in hopes that someone new or thinking about this type of stock will use it as a point of reference. I am not posting this for a war on dA.....

This is strictly advice....Their is a fine line between Nude stock and what is NOT stock and just flat soft core porn and/or spank material.

I want to give a few examples of what nude stock is, now there are many many nude stock artists and the ones I am citing here are far from the only ones out here but are shinning examples of what Nude stock artists are..... Now please note these are not the only ones but the ones I could think of off the top of my head.

These folks have such an amazing talent and to shot themselves or others El Natural takes an amazing skill, eye and vision. These folks deserve respect and admiration because they do us all proud when they post this genre and are willing to share it with us all.

They dont do it because they want to be a spank fantasy or the center of attention. They dont do it because they want to be trolled or asked to have sex with you or others, they dont do it so they can get called porn stars, sluts, prostitutes or any other variety of crap that gets said. They dont do it to Abuse your fine sense of sensibility or abuse your children. Its not like they dont have discovery channel, tv or go to school and hear and see far worse.

They do it because they have a vision in their own heads and they see the human body for what it is... a masterpiece. The way the light hits and lights up a curve. They see the beauty in the form and capture it on film. I could go on and on. These folks have the generosity to share that with us all.

On a personal note I personally tip my hat in gratitude to each and every one of you artists that do nudes that are stock that are tasteful and so amazing.

So folks PLEASE before you decided to go post Nude stock PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go take a look at the many nude galleries of the folks that have been out here awhile and take some notes and then follow your own heart and vision. This genre has such a varied avenue for one to work within as I have shown here.

I would also ask that you PLEASE PLEASE take in mind this is Deviant ART not Deviant PORN, if you have shots like hands down the panties and jerking off and you think it is an artistic piece fine post it in the Photography section under the fetish topic. You can always put it in the description that you dont mind if it is used as stock. The stock artists that do post nudes are the innocent and talented people that get the backlash for your actions.

Now I am sure a few of you are gonna attempt to flame me and really that is fine because I am saying what many of you think but dont have the guts to say.

I am going to tell you straight up I can discuss anything from a reasonable point of view; dont write me flaming or try to force YOUR beliefs on me. Write me with logic and explain your point. I am always willing to listen to anthers point afterall that is the only way we grow.

Now I may not agree with you but I by god will respect your view if you do mine. The same goes for any comments that get made.... Remember behind every PC is a living breathing person with feelings and thoughts. None of us have to like each other nor do we have to like each others opinions but we by god have to respect each other.

I killed it. But I did not lose a thing Thank god for external drives. I am having a formal burial for it next week. I am going to bury it in my backyard and weep like a good little mourner should. All flowers will be accepted. Sniff sniff

But it is all good with the death of my baby I have gone down and gotten a new system.

It went straight in to the shop and I should have it within the week.I got a slim line with 200GB HD and a 4GB RAM and blah blah blah blah who really gives a rats behind about tech stuff LOL
LOL All I can say is my Dino computer was a monster to move heavy as all get out... but Damn for this new one being so Compact it is one heavy Motha Bear.

I have new programs to add mainly CS 2. Everything I have read CS2 is a really good and far surpasses CS3 and CS4 in the fact there is not so many hassles with it. I have also purchased Lightroom 2. So I am going to be busy for a few days placing programs back on it. But it is all Gravy.....

Okay so I have been bust putting together the Watchers Pack.....

This is an appreciation thing for the steampunk stock providers. This is just such a neat and varied venue that one can just go buck wild with.

I personally would love to see more of this arena because it allots for each person to have individuallity and originallity. I mean c'mon folks you can only do rennisance so many ways.

The Commandments of stock artists.

This was written by me and I dont care if you use it just dont claim it is yours and give me credit. I have copyrighted this. I wrote this two years ago.... Hope you like....It is a work in progress

Commandment 1- Thou shalt NOT use a web cam to take stock shots.

Commandment 2- Thou shalt NOT take stock shots with your cell phone.

Commandment 3- Thou shall remember lighting is essential.

Commandment 4- Thou shalt remember less is not always better.

Commandment 5- Thou shall bear in mind while your naughty bits may be nice not everyone on dA want to see your naughty bits.

Commandment 6- Thou shall remember that dA has a MB limit on uploads. And downloading high MBs is a nightmare for others.

Commandment 7- Thou shall bear in mind stock artists are artists too

Commandment 8- Thou shall only post thy own shots not take someone elses and post and claim as their own.

Commandment 9- Nor shall you take others shots and post them somewhere else. If the artist wanted them there they would put them their themselves.

Commandment 10- Thou shall remember that behind every pc there is a person with feelings and thoughts, bear this in mind when commenting on others stock shots.

Commandment 11- Thou shall bear in mind this deviantArt not deviantPorn, Fliker or deviantCrap.

Commandment 12- As much as you may think your pet is cool 50 shots of your animal gets repetitious.

Commandment 13- A Gallery full of 500 shots of close ups of your face are awesome they are not.

Commandment 14- Thou shall reply to others comments even if it is a mere icon.

Commandment 15- Thou shall be able to take criticism. Not everyone will like shots of fluffy the cat, spot the dog or you as much as you do.

Commandment 16- Thou shall remember while you are providing a resource to the community you are not god and your stock is only as good as the people who use it.

Commandment 17- Thou shall not be a tyrant with your terms of use. People do remember if you have acted like a tyrant and are quick to click the x when they see you. People can also find stock of whatever object you have taken from someone else rendering you useless.

Commandment 18- While your stock may be great the way you treat others will affect how your stock is used and if it is used at all.

Commandment 19- Originality is a great thing and always appreciated and above all needed.

Commandment 20- Thou shall remember shots of you hanging out with friend or at the bar are NOT stock shots!

Commandment 21- Above all commandment laid down herein while you are providing a resource you must have fun doing it. That is after all the
point of it.

These will and can be amended as needed. Anyone wants to add let me know and I will give you full credit for your addition to such.
